UYIR Road Safety Awareness Activities June 2026 | Kutty Cops & UYIR Club

Building Safer Roads Through Awareness, Participation and Young Road Safety Ambassadors

Throughout June 2026, UYIR continued its commitment to creating safer roads and responsible road users through a wide range of Road Safety Awareness Activities conducted across schools and colleges. The month’s activities focused on engaging children, students, parents, teachers and the wider community through practical awareness programmes, pledges, traffic education, school-zone safety activities and community outreach.

Empowering Young Road Safety Ambassadors

The UYIR Kutty Cops programme continued to play an important role in developing road safety awareness among school students.

Students participated in:

  • Road Safety Pledges
  • Traffic sign awareness
  • Safe pedestrian practices
  • Helmet awareness
  • School-gate safety activities
  • Roadside awareness drives
  • Traffic regulation activities
  • Awareness among parents and motorists
  • Road Safety Drawing Competitions
  • Mime and cultural performances

At Vidya Nethrra School, Pollachi, Kutty Cops took the Road Safety Pledge during the morning assembly, while students were trained in the proper use of the Road Safety Patrol cap and sash.

Several schools also conducted gate-duty activities, where students helped promote safer traffic movement and responsible parking and driving practices around school zones.

Road Safety Awareness Across Schools

During June, road safety activities were conducted across numerous educational institutions, including:

Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Vidyalaya, Ellappa Matriculation School, Corporation Higher Secondary School Siddhapudur, Corporation Middle School Ramakrishnapuram, Akshara Academy School, GHSS Vellamadai, Government Higher Secondary School Ganapathy, St. Paul’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Hindustan Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, CGHS Selvapuram, GKD Matriculation Higher Secondary School, SBOA Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Perks Matriculation Higher Secondary School, PSGR Krish Schools, RVS Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vel International Public School, Vidya Nethrra School, and several other institutions.

These activities helped students understand that road safety is not only about following traffic rules but also about becoming responsible citizens and encouraging others to make safer choices.

Awareness on Wheels

UYIR also conducted Awareness on Wheels activities during June.

Students participated in interactive awareness sessions designed to promote:

  • Safe road practices
  • Traffic rule awareness
  • Accident prevention
  • Responsible road-user behaviour

Activities were conducted at Annai Violet Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Perks Higher Secondary School and SRP Ammaniammal Corporation Higher Secondary School.

UYIR Club – Student-Led Road Safety

The UYIR Club continued to strengthen youth participation in road safety.

College students participated in awareness initiatives covering helmet safety, traffic rules, safe riding and responsible road behaviour. Institutions featured in the June activities included Marine College, Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science, Ganga College of Allied Sciences, Sree Krishna Adithya College of Arts and Sciences, Suguna College of Arts and Science, Karpagam Academy, PSGCAS and Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College.

At Karpagam Academy, the Road Safety Club also supported traffic management at Eachanari while spreading awareness about safer road practices.

Taking Road Safety Beyond the Classroom

UYIR’s June activities demonstrate a broader approach to road safety—moving beyond classroom awareness and encouraging students to actively participate in their communities.

From school assemblies and pledges to roadside awareness, traffic regulation, helmet campaigns, creative competitions and community engagement, every activity contributes to building a culture where road safety becomes a shared responsibility.

Together Towards Safer Roads

UYIR continues to work with schools, colleges, Road Safety Patrol students, Kutty Cops, UYIR Clubs, educators, parents and communities to promote safer roads.

Road Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
